Indie Authors Hall of Fame

I was like you. I only read mainstream writers and only if I could get a physical copy in my local bookstore. But that changed when I got close to publishing my own book. I started reading because I wanted to see what the competition was like, but now I read because I genuinely enjoy the books written by indie authors more. Now, I know that there is a lot of trash out there, but fret not, I am here to filter out the coal and bring you the diamonds.

Here’s a list of indie books/authors I endorse if you like fantasy or romantasy.

Talos Awakening (Series: The Heirs of Mythogenesis) by Len F. Fisher

Cost: 86.00 INR

Super-soldiers. Living weapons. That’s what Allax Drake and Maika Laurens were meant to be.
Allax was trained his entire life for that purpose, first by his father, from whom he inherited his mutation, and then by the Peacekeeper-Director, who turned him into a tool of war.
Yet somehow, Maika’s general pissed-off attitude makes her even more terrifying.

When genius inventor Emíl Larsson sends a cryptic distress call to the Peacekeepers while working on cutting-edge military robots, Allax and Maika are thrust into a deadly mission deep in the snow-covered mountains. But what starts as a routine rescue spirals into chaos when a brutal blizzard scatters the team and a relentless enemy emerges from the storm. Cut off from their technology, Allax and Maika fight to keep each other and their complicated relationship alive as they navigate a web of secrets and betrayals. As time runs out, nothing is as it seems.

False Tidings: A Fool’s Errand (Series: The Fool’s Journey) by Stephen J Grant

William Grey is in a lot of trouble. He just doesn’t know it yet.

Raised by monks, he’s never left his village, and couldn’t tell a long sword from a loofah. He thinks magic is just stuff we don’t understand yet, but he’s in for a rude awakening. In a strange twist, William is knighted and sent on a life-altering quest for a magical crystal in faraway Sardonica, an island close to the land of Italica.

But this quest is no straightforward jaunt. As rival witches flex their mystical muscles, William soon discovers that he’s a pawn in a grander scheme orchestrated by Feydor, a eunuch jester with a flair for manipulation. The questions on everyone’s lips: Will he peel back the layers of deception in time to unravel the true meaning of his quest and outwit Feydor? Will he solve the eternal enigma of the two headed cat? Will he gain the love of the mysterious Helena? And will his inaugural quest also be his swan song?

False Tidings is a tale of witches, a jester, a king, a queen, a deadly pet monkey, a matriarchal goblin-like race, a reluctant hero, an evil priesthood, a love affair that ranges over a continent, and a magical crystal.

Readers of this humorous medieval fantasy describe it as “a rich pageant of plotting, intrigue and laughs,” “brings the fun back to the hero’s journey,” “a fascinating take on Don Quixote,” and “a must for Terry Pratchett and Blackadder fans.”
